Image Analysis for Bacterial Growth and Antibiotic Kill
Using image processing techniques we analyzed sequences of microscope images to identify bacteria species and their susceptibility to different concentrations of various antibiotics.
During the processing, we first registered the images to each other then we found up to thousands of candidate clones and tracked them through time, watching their growth and death.
The main application is written in Java with assistance from the JAI image and output XML libraries. We wrote a development and diagnostic viewing tool with wxWidgets and Python.
